iPod 5th Generation

Introduced: October 2005
Terminated: September 2006

Description

The iPod 5th Generation was available in 30 and 60Gb configuration and featured a 2.5” color LCD.  This new iPod could display MPEG-4 and H.264 video.  This iPod could plug into an external TV and display video using composite video and audio outputs or the iPod AV or S-video cables.

History

Building on the previous iPod’s ability to display color images, the 5th Generation iPod could display videos.  In spite of this new feature, Apple kept the price the same, as had become the norm over the past few models.

  • I think this was one of the best iPod. I still have mine and I even did some guest blogging about it.
