Description

The Xserve (Cluster Node) operated as a node when a cluster of Xserves was being used.  It had dual 1.33Ghz processors, 512Mb of RAM and a 60Gb hard drive.

History

Unlike the regular Xserve, the Xserve (Cluster Node) did not include an optical drive or graphics card.  It could also only support one ATA hard drive.

The Xserve was geared towards education and enterprise markets.  It could be used for a variety of purposes including acting as a file server, a web server in addition to clustering high-performance applications.
